Hi readers,
Happy holidays!!!! This is the best Christmas when the movies were the best! We are Marshall, I cried the entire time. This was the best movie. It warrants all the accolades. I feel that Matthew McConahey and Matthew Fox were superb. This movie let the emotions flow. Loved it!!!
Dreamgirls was another fabulous movie. I saw this one and thought that Jennifer Hudson carried the day and the movie. This was loosely based on the Supremes whatever Diana Ross might say.
Well that's all from here.

Charlotte's Web and Pursuit of Happyness
Hello holiday readers!
well, I saw Charlotte's web, and it was cute, and sad. I cried, If you have never read this children's classic crawl out from under the cave and read it. I always cry at the end... I liked the use of live animals to tell the story of Wilbur. Fern was super cute played by Dakota Fanning. She is very mature. More mature than me, I am sure of.
I also saw Will Smith and Jaden Smith work together, it was a heartfelt movie abiut opportunity and busting butt to have anything in this life. We'll see what the academy says about this film and the acting.
My votes for Oscar
The Queen- Helen Mirren
Blood Diamond- Leonardo Dicaprio
Dream Girls- Eddie Murphy
that's it so far. I have to see King of Scotland, and some other movies at the independent theatre.

Blood Diamond, The Holiday
Hello Readers,
Saw Blood Diamond, and being the movie whore that I am, I filled out all the Nielsen ratings... It was a sad movie. First, Africa is in so much trouble, and the U.S. media tells us nothing about the crises that are there on that continent. So this movie sheds light on the diamond mines and how apathetic the world is... I loved Leonardo's performance, I really want him to be nominated for something. I reccommend this movie to anyone!
I also saw the Holiday. It was great because I needed something light to counteract the truth of Blood Diamond. The Holiday has a great cast, and at some point I could relate to both characters. Cameron sleeps with the new guy the first night...yeah... and the movies that Kate rents, uh connection... and the man that Cameron hooks it up with dad, two daughters. And, Jack Black... This isn't a library... cuz he was too loud:) Anyway, see it, it was cute.

De Ja Vu, The Fountain, and Happy Feet
Well, unfortunately, both of these movies could have been better. First, De Ja Vu, the premise was great, this group of FBI agents discover a way to view the actual past, as it is occuring. They send Denzel back in time to solve the murder... However, the writer's kindof screwed up the whole space time continum thing, by having the future be altered, and he never went there. It needed to show him going back a few times and screwing up, then finally getting it right.
The Fountain was just falsely advertised, there was no magic serum that kept them alive for centuries as the trailer suggests, it was just a fictional story and a current story being told at the same time... all the while there is a weird subconscious higher self thing going on. It was weird, but not space time continum, as I thought. So with those both kind of disappointing, we go into Christmas with dim hopes for Oscar.
Oh lastly, I saw Happy Feet. It was cute. It had amazing animation, and a cute story line. I can see thatthis might take home an Oscar... I also thought it was age appropriate and showed today's culture.
Well, that's all from here. We'll see you at the movies.

The Queen, Borat, A Good Year, Stranger Than Fiction
Hello dedicated readers:
Here's the update... Borat is OUTRAGEOUS!!! Do not see this movie if you are religious, it offends many people and their belief systems. It is so offensive, but funny. So many people could not handle this movie that is for sure.
A Good Year, was beautiful, not exceptional acting, not exceptional plot, but beautiful sets and a sweet story about a man that lost touch with his youth and his true spirit. Very sweet.
Stranger than Fiction was cute. A good story, it was sweet, kind of chickish, and not an oscar contender. I feel the writer just wanted to make this movie to make it. I liked Emma Thompson, I feel they wasted Queen Latifah's talent, she is so funny, and we didn't get to see that.
Last, My pick, The Queen, this was amazing. The acting, the story line everything is Oscar worthy. See this one and let me know.
Til next time...

Marie Antoinette
Saw the best movie! I loved this. It was so visually stimulating. The costumes were great, and it was so humorous. I have no idea why the critics panned it. It was old school meets modern times and the soundtrack was hilarious!!!Sofia Copela (Spelling) did a great job! I hope this movie gets a nod for the costumes or film editing. I loved it. the directing was awesome and cinematography too. But, with the setting, I did see a little bit of the Universal lot in the BG. But that's just me. The Prestige...
Hello friends...
I again only saw one movie... The Prestige with an all star cast. I loved this movie. It was a fictional movie, but had some historical accuracy. Set in the late 1890's two magicians are competing to be the best. There is a rivalry that turns somewhat dangerous and creepy. In the end all is revealed, and there are some surprises.
Scarlett Johansen was used very well as the sexy assistant and both Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale are nice to look at. Michael Caine is amazing as always... I give this a B+

Man of the Year
Hello Readers,
I only saw one movie Man of the Year. Another C+ movie. Robin Williams runs and wind the presidency, but Laura Linney realizes he never really one. It's all about a cover up and not about being president. False advertising if you ask me. It needed a lot more jokes, and if this were my movie, actually having a comedian as president. Making fun of foreign policy, but having the U.S. be a super power and respected. That would have been my rewrite.

Sunshine on a cloudy day
I saw Little Miss Sunshine. This movie was so great. I had a minor meltdown after seeing it. Basically, Steve Carell tried to kill himself because he felt he nothing to live for. And, saw his ex and the guy who pretty much stole his life. I could totally relate. Then, the family with the motivational speaker trying to make $$$. And their fights, and the kid with a dream who hates his family, and a beauty pageant, and Alan Arkin make this movie awesome. I liked the whole plot. I hope the academy gives this a nod for screenplay. Very well done. Well, this is silverplatters signing off.

The Departed
Hello Friends,
See being single has me at least blog. KK Met a hottie. I have no plans but to fantasize about him. But, hey he is damn hot.
K, now back to the important stuff. The Departed, LOVED IT!! I loved Leo D. in this role. He's an undercover cop in Boston and there is a dirty cop, Matt Damon, who is trying to sniff him out. The cast is amazing and the directing stellar. Alec Baldwin has a bit part which I love, and Jack is scary scary. He plays a good criminal. There are a few twists and turns, but basically easy to follow and an easy 2:45, yep almost 3 hours, but well worth it. I'd pay$ 6.00 for it.
Jet Li's movie Fearless was good, I was just tired so I missed some. It's subtitled so be prepared to read. I know some do not like to read. It was about a Chinese hero in 1910. I liked it. But I missed some crucial parts. So I need to rent it.
Anyway, this is silverplatters signing off.

Yes, I am back... Single and movieing it!!
Ok I saw the world's best martial arts movie, it was paid for by Quentin Tarantino... It's called The Protector. This had the best fight scenes ever. The guy, Tony Jaa did all the choreography. He was kicking total ass the entire time. He beat on asians, huge white guys and a psycho chick with a whip!!! This I am buying for sure. Check it out!!! Oh yeah and no stupid love scenes in this one!!!
The Guardian, uh this was ok C+ entertainment. I like to call it Top Gun in the Coast Guard. Even with a stupid love scene. That's my least favorite sub plot. They ruin like 45 minutes witha lame subplot chicks don't even like.
Can you tell I am a little over the love scene. Sorry getting dumped does that to a girl.
Well I'll see ya next week w/ a review.

Getting Played (again) do you sense a trend???
Ok first things first... Saw some movies. Black Dahlia, hated it. It sucked. I even hated Scarlett and I love her. I hated Aaron Eckhart, and I love him. The acting sucked. The script sucked. It had maybe 5 minutes of the true Black Dahlia. Don't waste your dahlia on this one.
Next, Crank. Fell asleep. Amy Smart was good. That was it. Rental!
Hollywoodland... I really liked it. Ben Affleck went from an F actor to a C actor. Diane Lane, Bob Hoskins, Adrien Brody... They carried this film ait ws depressing, but I feel the way they showed the scenarios was really well done. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
The Illusionist, this was the best!!! I was not expecting it to be good at all. I loved it. Love story, romance and magic. Give me a break. Ed Norton, you rock!!! And Jessica Biel, I don't hate you anymore;)
Flyboys, too long. Waaaay too long. Good action good story. Edit like 30 minutes. We dont need the love story that never happens. That was the 30 minutes too much I think.
K now to be fair, It only feels like I got played. I am not a victim, it just sucked the way it was handled.
Alrighty, I'm minding my own business in a no where relationship. But hey at least I am content. Then this older man sweeps me off my feet. Tells me we are going places, and we have chemistry. I break it off with other guy, much needed, but still I would still be with him if this next thing never happened. Date this guy for 3 weeks, have awesome sex, but then he goes to Europe for a week with an ex girlfriend. My first thing is like, wow, this sucks, he is going to spark something with her.
Well, I was absolutely right, but that's not the played part. Sex with me must be friggin' amazing, cuz I drive 1.5 hours to have sex with him, and then go home and get dumped. He did not tell me for the entire week that things sparked back up with the ex. I am such a fool. Here's the worst of it. I still totally dig this guy and would screw him in a minute. I know its not right, and I have my pride, but in my insanity, I agreed to be friends with him. Knowing all the while he used me the last time and has feelings for another woman.
Anyway... I am single yet again.

World Trade Center
Hello Friends,
This past week in Vegas I saw WTC. It was sad the whole way. Nicolas Cage plays a sargeant from the NYPD port authority. He plays a real man who survived the collapse and 87 surgeries. This was a total tear jerker. I think it's still so soon to tell these stories... But hey, I went and saw it. I loved Maggie Gyllenhal on this movie as well. She played a great mom. I think her next performance as a mom will be great.

Movies are still my life
Hey Movies are still my life... I just have forgotten to write about them. There really is not a movie that I absolutely fell for this summer. I must say however that Snakes on a Plane was surprisingly funny. It is really campy, but fun. I hated Miami Vice. I loved Superman! And Pirates was good the first time. Way too long though for my taste :) Um yeah Clerks II, pretty great. The Decent was decent heh heh. And I liked material girls, but its a rental. As for you me and dupree, another rental. Thats about it. I saw Ice Age 2 it was cute but nothing to write home about. I promise this fall I will Blog once again. Take care and as always.

The New World and Annapolis
This week should not have even happened. The New World was a snoozer. There was zero dialogue. Colin Farrel was ok. Christian Bale was even boring. So sad. Then, I saw Annapolis, this was the worst movie. It was Top Gun meets karate kid at the Naval academy. I hated it. Thankfully James Franco and Jordana Bewster were good to look at. That was the only reedeeming quality from this movie. Well see you next week!
But, Oscar and I are on the same page!!!
I can't wait. Til next time...

Last Holiday, Matador, Match Point, Tristan and Isolde
Hey readers,
I did not see Hostel, maybe this week. I did see however the four mentioned. Last Holiday, a cute look at living life to the fullest. Queen Latifah is so great. I even liked Gerard Depardieu. I recommend this for cuteness.
Matador, This was great! Pierce Brosnan as an assassin. He was slimy and gross, I loved him in this role. So not James Bond. Greg Kinnear is good in everything, this was no exception.
Match Point is probably my favorite of these. It was well thought out, dark, and twisted and turned. I usually am 50/50 with Woody Allen, but I loved this one.
Tristan and Isolde reeked of chick flick. It was a total chick flick and it was ok. I fell asleep. The love was good. The guy who played Lord Markrocked my world. His performance was great!
This week, I promise i'll be more diligent. Thanks for reading.
